Director y guionista. Estudió Comunicación Audiovisual en la UNIACC, Escuela de Cine de Santiago de Chile. Después de concluir sus estudios trabaja durante un corto período en publicidad. Posteriormente gana el máximo galardón en el Primer Festival de Videoarte de Santiago de Chile. Participa en numerosos seminarios de vídeo arte. Durante la dictadura de Pinochet, imposibilitado para trabajar como cineasta y con la única opción de la publicidad como medio audiovisual, se marcha de Chile. Durante once años reside en Bali, Indonesia, donde trabaja como diseñador. A su regreso a Chile, escribe, dirige y produce su primer largometraje, Pretendiendo (2006). Actualmente reside en Los Ángeles donde desarrolla su segundo largometraje, un remake de Pretendiendo, titulado provisionalmente Ugly Me.
Claudio Dabed is a Chilean director and screenwriter. He studied Audiovisual Communication in the UNIACC, Santiago de Chile Film School (Escuela de Cine de Santiago de Chile). After he finished his studies he worked for a short time in advertising. The filmmaker won the main award at the first Santiago Video Art Festival (Festival de Videoarte de Santiago) Chile, organized by Sony. He took part in numerous seminars of vídeo art. During the Pinochet dictatorship, unable to work as filmmaker and having advertising as the only audiovisual work, he left Chile. For eleven years he lived in Bali, Indonesia, where he worked as designer. When he returned to Chile, he wrote, directed and produced his first feature film, Pretendiendo (2006). He lives in Los Ángeles, USA, where he developed his second feature film, a remake of Pretendiendo, with the provisional title of Ugly Me.
