Gerardo Naranjo

Nace en Guanajuato, México. Estudió en la Universidad Iberoamericana y en 1998 estudió en el CUEC por un breve periodo de tiempo. Con su primer cortometraje Perro Negro (1998) es invitado a cursar una maestría en cine en The American Film Institute (AFI) en Los Ángeles, California, donde cursó su estudios y ganó dos premios: la beca Edwin y Sheila Allen por Desempeño excelente y el premio Larson Bridges por su guión de tesis The Last Attack of The Beast. Una vez realizado The Last Attack Of The Beast, ganó el DGA Award 2002 (Premio del Sindicato de Directores de América) a la mejor dirección estudiantil, fue adquirida por CANAL +, presentado en Cannes 2003 como parte de una muestra de KODAK y fue invitado a más de 50 festivales.
En el 2005, Gerardo fue coguionista y protagonista de la película The Goodtimeskid, dirigida por Azazel Jacobs (E.U.) y mencionada por el crítico del Variety Robert Koheler como una de las mejores películas de 2005. Gerardo estrenó su cinta Drama/Mex en la 45º Semana Internacional de la Crítica (SIC) dentro del Festival de Cannes 2006. Esta película fue invitada a varios festivales de cine en todo el mundo, incluyendo Toronto, Londres, Thessaloniki (Grecia), Tokio, AFI (Los Ángeles) y Cuba, entre otros.
Gerardo Naranjo was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. He studied at the Iberian American University. In 1998, he studied at CUEC for a brief period of time. With his first short film Perro Negro (1998), he is invited to take a master’s program on films at The American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles, California, where he studied and won two awards: The Edwin and Sheila Allen Scholarship for excellent performance and the prize Larson Bridges for the screenplay was filmed of his thesis work The Last Attack of The Beast. Once the screen was shot, the film won the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Award in 2002 for the best student direction, the film was acquired by CANAL +; it was presented at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, as part of a sample of KODAK and it was invited to more than 50 International Film Festivals.
In 2005, Gerardo was co-screenwriter and played the leading role in the film The Goodtimeskid, directed by Azazel Jacobs (35mm, 80 min, USA.), this film was mentioned by the critic of Variety Robert Koheler as one of the best movies of 2005. Gerardo premiered his film Drama/Mex at the International Critic`s Week at the 45th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. This film was invited to several film festivals around the world including Toronto, London, Thessaloniki, Tokyo, AFI, and Havana, among others.
