Nació en Caracas, en 1978. Es director, productor y guionista de cine. Estudió Comunicación Social en la Universidad Central de Venezuela, y durante este tiempo trabajó como crítico de cine para la emisora Radio Caracas Radio, del Grupo 1BC. Este empleo le sirvió para establecer contactos con la productora Elizabeth Avellán, y eventualmente con su esposo, el director Robert Rodríguez.

Entre sus obras se cuentan el documental Los barcos de la esperanza (2000), el cual narra la llegada a Venezuela de los inmigrantes judíos que huían de los nazis. También el cortometraje Distance (2002), que se basa en los atentados del 11 de septiembre de 2001, para contar una historia de ficción. Su primer largometraje, Secuestro Express (2005), una película polémica (se muestra el video de personas involucrada en los sucesos de puente Llaguno), se convirtió en una de las cintas venezolanas más taquilleras de la historia del país.

Jonathan Jakubowicz (1978-) is a Venezuelan filmmaker, producer and screenwriter. He studied social communication at the Central University of Venezuela, and during that time, he worked as film critic for the radio station Radio Caracas, that belongs to the 1BC. This job offered him the opportunity to establish contact with the producer Elizabeth Avellán and her husband, the filmmaker Roberto Rodriguez.

One of his works is the documentary Los barcos de la esperanza (2000), which tells the story of the arrival to Venezuela of the Jewis immigrant that run away from Nazism. Also his short film Distance (2000) that is based on the terrorist attacks on September 11 to create a narrative film. His first feature film, Secuestro Express (2005), a controversial film (it shows the video of the people involved in the events of Puente Llaguno) that became one of the biggest box-office hit in the history of Venezuelan cinema.
