  • Orlando Lübbert

    Estudió Arquitectura y Cine en los Talleres de Chile Films. Tras el golpe militar en 1973, se exilia en México, donde  se desempeñó como profesor en la Escuela de Cine de la Universidad Nacional, entre 1973 y 1974. A partir de 1975, fija su residencia en Alemania, donde vivió hasta 1995. 

    Dirigió su primera película en 1975, titulada Los puños frente al cañón. En Berlín escribió y dirigió los largometrajes El Paso (1979) y Die Kolonie (1985). Se dedicó a la docencia y filmó documentales para la televisión alemana.

    De regreso a Chile en 1995, rodó un documental sobre el caso Pinochet, La herida abierta (1999). Poco después realiza Taxi para tres, filme del cual fue director y guionista, donde se cuenta el drama de un taxista agobiado por las dificultades y quien, luego de ser asaltado por dos delincuentes de poca monta, decide unirse a ellos. Con esta cinta Lubbert  ganó en el 2001 el Festival de San Sebastián, así como los premios como Mejor Director, Mejor película y Mejor actor, otorgados por la Asociación de Periodistas de Espectáculos (APES),  además de otros premios internacionales.




    Orlando Lübbert is Chilean filmmaker who studied architecture and film at the workshops of Chile Films. After the militray coup in 1973, he went to exile in Mexico, where he worked as professor at the film School (Escuela de Cine) of the National University  (Universidad Nacional) between 1973 and 1974. Since 1975, he took residence in Germany where he lived until 1995.

    He directed his first film in 1975 with the title Los puños frente al cañón. In Berlin, Lübbert wrote and directed the feature films El Paso and Die Kolonie and devoted himself to teaching and filmed documentaries for the German television.

    When he came back to Chile in 1995, he shot the documentary about the Pinochet case, La herida abierta (1999). Shortly after this documentary, he directed and wrote the narrative feature film Taxi para tres, which narrates the drama of a taxi driver overwhelmed by all kind of difficulties who, after being assaulted by two minor criminals, decides to join them. With this film Lubbert was awarded in 2001 at the San Sebastian Film Festival (Festival de San Sebastián); he also won the prizes of Best  Director, Best Film, Best Actor, granted by the Association of Journalist of the Show Bussiness (Asociación de Periodistas de Espectáculos, APES),  as well as other international awards.
