Reconocido realizador, artista visual y vinculado al teatro de Curazao.
En 1982 obtuvo el grado de Máster en Arte y Dirección Cinematográfica
en la Universidad de Nueva York. Ha obtenido numerosos premios y
reconocimientos por su obra cinematográfica y sus logros artísticos en
general, entre ellos el Golden Calf en Holanda, el Premio Paul
Robeson en Burkina Faso, y el Premio Saul Yelín en La Habana,
Cuba. Además de Ava and Gabriel, su obra más premiada, es el director
del film Desirée and Almacita di Desolato, así como de
numerosos cortometrajes y documentales. Su obra refleja un alto
compromiso y conciencia de su origen e identidad afrocaribeña.
Félix of Rooy is a recognized filmmaker, visual artist and is linked to the theater of Curaçao. In 1982, he received a Master of Arts in Film Direction of the University of New York. He has been awarded at numerous prizes and recognitions for his film work and his artistic achievements, among them the Golden Calf in the Netherlands, the Prize Paul Robeson in Burkina Faso, and the Prize Saúl Yelín in Havana, Cuba. Besides Ava and Gabriel, his most award-winning work, he also directed the films Desirée and and Almacita di Desolato, as well as numerous documentaries and short films.His work reflects a high level of commitment and awareness of his Afro-Caribbean origin and identity.
