    (Cuba, 1961)



    Nace en La Habana el 7 de diciembre de 1961. Licenciado en Pedagogía y Geografía. Se inició con éxito desde temprana edad en la radio y escribió de todo: crónicas, semblanzas, teatros, cuentos, series dramáticas y radionovelas y posteriormente en la televisión, donde ha sido guionista para cuentos y teleplays, que no siempre dirigió. Ha sido director y guionista de más de una treintena de obras documentales y de ficción por las que ha merecido, entre otros, el Premio Rey de España, por Los últimos gaiteros de La Habana (2004, en codirección con Natacha Vázquez); Premio Santiago Álvarez de Documental, Premio Sara Gómez de Documental en el Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, Premio del Festival del Movimiento de Video Independiente Iberoamericano, varias veces premio Caracol de la Unión Nacional de Artistas y Escritores de Cuba y de la Caribbean Broadcasting Awards. Recibió la medalla Castelao, máximo reconocimiento cultural concedido por la Junta de Galicia.

    En 2004 escribió el guión y dirigió el telefilme ¿La Vida en Rosa?, que obtuvo el Gran Premio del I Festival Nacional de Televisión de Cuba más otros seis, incluyendo a la mejor dirección y guión original, y devino obra de culto dentro del audiovisual cubano.

    Debuta en el largometraje de ficción con Los dioses rotos (2008), ganador del premio Cine en Construcción en el Festival de Cine Pobre de Gibara, así como de numerosos reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales, entre los que se destaca el Premio del Público en el 30 Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana y el haber sido seleccionada por la Asociación Cubana de la Prensa Cinematográfica entre las 10 mejores películas exhibidas en el año 2008.

    Le siguió Conducta, premio del público y de mejor película iberoamericana en Málaga, donde también conquistó los lauros de dirección y actriz.



    Ernesto Daranas (1961-) has worked in film, TV, theater and radio. He has been director and screenwriter of over thirty works among fiction and documentary. For his audiovisual projects he won the Rey de España (King of Spain) Prize for Los últimos gaiteros de La Habana (2004, co-directed with Natasha Vázquez), the Santiago Alvarez Documentary award, the Sara Gomez Documentary Prize at the Havana International Festival of the New Latin American Cinema,Cuba, the main Award of the Independent Ibero-American Festival of Video Movement (Festival del Movimiento de Video Independiente Iberoamericano); several times he has won the Caracol Prize awarded by the National Union of Cuban Artists and Writers (Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba) and the Caribbean Broadcasting Awards. He received the Castelao medal, the highest recognition awarded by the Junta de Galicia.

    In 2004, he wrote the screenplay and directed the TV film  La Vie En Rose?, which won the Grand Prize of the First National Festival of Television in Cuba. It was also winner in other six categories such as best director and original screenplay. This TV film became a cult film in Cuban audiovisual.

    He debuted in the feature film with Los dioses rotos (Fallen Gods, 2008), winner of the section Films in Progress at the Low Budget International Film Festival (Festival de Cine Pobre) of Gibara  as well as numerous national and international awards, among which stands out the Audience Award at the 30th Havana International Festival of the New Latin American Cinema and its selection by the Cuban Association of Film Journalists as one of the top 10 films shown in 2008.
