Martha Luna (Peru, 1952) was famous for her successful short documentary Estigma, an original version of Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca´s play, La casa de Bernarda Alba. The short combines the dance version of the Lorca´s work with a photographic montage.
The filmmaker´s first feature documentary was Chabuca Grande... confidencias, a biographical portrait of the Peruvian composer. The short film alternates images of the traditional places where the composer sang, intercut with interviews made to others composer as Armando Manzanero, Alberto Cortés, Mercedes Sosa and Pablo Milanes.
The release of the documentary, planned for April 1990, was impossible because of refusal of the exhibitor, in spite that the film counted with the support of the Film Promotion Commission (Comision de Promoción Cinematográfica) and was supposed should enjoy the obligatory exhibition rights.
