    Sinopsis: Analiza las ideas y acciones de la Iglesia de Chile en medio del contexto del régimen militar que vive el país desde 1973. Las acciones y las palabras directas de los personajes principales configuran el relato dramático, donde aparece una sociedad activa, casi siempre acosada, dueña de un mundo poético propio y con una enorme dignidad cotidiana. El hilo conductor es la iglesia: una institución moderna, mayoritariamente liberal, tolerante, abierta al cambio y que propicia la participación social para defender los derechos humanos.

    This provocative documentary explores the role of the Catholic Church in fighting against or maintaining the repressive Chilean military regime of Augusto Pinochet. Considerable attention is paid to the daring efforts of the Vicarage of Solidarity and the protests of liberal bishops against the human rights abuses and outright atrocities committed in the name of "social stability." Two of the people from the Vicarage who were interviewed in the film were shortly afterwards arrested and jailed. These efforts are contrasted with the smug righteousness of the military and its chaplains, and some of the conservative hierarchs of the church. That country's two cardinals were in a state of amicable opposition, but only one (the more liberal Silva Henriquez) consented to an interview.
