    Sinopsis: Cada día, en las salas de maternidad de los hospitales públicos de la ciudad de Bogotá, centenares de mujeres dan a luz a sus hijos. Caso a caso, parto a parto, una realidad social se desvela tras cada situación individual. Esperar, cumplir, querer, defender, aceptar y resistir, verbos que conforman este dibujo desmitificado del nacimiento hospitalario. Nacer - Diario de Maternidad es el retrato directo de varias vidas en seis días que reflejan una parte esencial de un país.

    In Birth, the petty courts of Bagatela, Caballero’s previous documentary, are replaced with the maternity wards of Bogotá’s state hospitals. Patiently, systematically, a seemingly commonplace event is imbued with mystery and the miracle of film penetrates the very origin of life itself. The director enters the delivery room, where mothers-to-be express their fears and show their mettle; the men remain on the sidelines of this intimate experience that is reserved for women and cannot be shared. Perhaps this is the reason so many of them agreed to the presence of the camera at this life-changing moment. The first part of a project on birth and death, this feature-length documentary showcases the creative talents of its maker with excellent results. A signature film in a very real sense of the word!
