    Nace en Cochabamba, Bolivia, el 30 de Agosto de 1972. Estudió Comunicación Social en la Universidad Católica Boliviana y Antropología en la Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. También se desempeñó como periodista en medios políticos y culturales de Bolivia, como el Semanario Aquí, el periódico mensual El Caraspas, la revista literaria La Letra E y otras. Fue, además, miembro del equipo de Paleografía e Investigación Documental del Archivo Histórico de la ciudad de La Paz, y miembro universitario del Centro de Investigación Antropológica Tiwanaku.

    Entre 1993 y 1995 estudió en la EICTV y se graduó como guionista. Después de sus estudios en Cuba, trabajó en Bolivia de forma independiente como Guionista, Directora y Asistente de Dirección en diferentes proyectos bolivianos. Su mediometraje Tierra adentro (1996) ganó el Premio Nacional Cóndor de Plata a la mejor producción en ficción del año 1996, y el Premio otorgado por la Escuela Provincial de Cine y TV de Rosario en el IV Festival Latinoamericano de Video Rosario 1997.

    Entre 1998 y 2000 cursa una Maestría en Guión para Documental y Ficción en la Universidad de Bergen (Noruega). Entre 1999 y 2003 realiza un Doctorado en Teoría del Cine en la misma Universidad. Su tesis de doctorado Cine y Revolución en América Latina fue publicada en idioma inglés e incluye un primer intento de historia documentada de la Fundación del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano y de la EICTV.

    Durante su periodo de estudios en Noruega dirigió y produjo el documental Trono, que recibió la Distinción Ral Programa Latinoamericano durante el Encuentro Latinoamericano de Televisión RAL en Uruguay el año 2001; fue seleccionado oficialmente en el Festival de Cine Documental de Málaga y en el Festival Internacional de Programmes Audiovisuels de Francia, y ha sido recientemente adquirido para su difusión por el canal de televisión latinoamericano Telesur. En ese mismo periodo, fue Productora General de la restauración del largometraje silente boliviano Wara Wara, produjo el cortometraje Paraíso y empezó con la escritura del guión del largometraje Di buen día papá.

    En el año 2002 fue Coordinadora del Modo Semi-presencial de la Maestría en Guión para Ficción, Documental y Multimedia de la Universidad de Bergen, en colaboración con la EICTV. En ese proyecto fue responsable por la administración de los cursos en línea, del diseño y la actualización académica de la plataforma de aprendizaje a distancia, y docente en los siguientes cursos: Medios, Cultura y Sociedad; Teoría Dramática; Guionización para Documental y Ficción; Teoría de las Nuevas Tecnologías. Fruto de esta experiencia pionera en el uso de nuevas tecnologías para la educación a distancia en el área del cine se publicó en el año 2004 el libro ICT and Multicultural Practice, del que es coautora.

    En el año 2003 regresó a Bolivia y fundó la empresa de producción audiovisual Imagen Propia. Con esta empresa ganó el Premio Ibermedia para el Desarrollo de Proyecto y luego para la coproducción del largometraje Di buen día papá, del cual es guionista y productora ejecutiva. El largometraje se realizó en coproducción con Argentina y Cuba, estrenándose en el año 2005.

    Entre 2005 y 2007 fue guionista y productora de varios documentales, cortometrajes y campañas publicitarias con Imagen propia srl. Destacan entre estos trabajos los documentales Inal mamá, ganador por Bolivia del concurso iberoamericano DOCTV IB; y Los bolivianos, ganador del Concurso Sudamericano lanzado por Televisión de América Latina TAL, actualmente en proceso de producción.

    Impartió cursos y talleres en el área de Crítica Cinematográfica, Guión y Realización en instituciones tales como la Escuela de Artes Visuales, el Taller Cine-Video, la Comisión de Comunicación de la Conferencia Episcopal Boliviana (La Paz), la Escuela de Cine la Fábrica (Cochabamba), la Escuela Superior de Comunicación Diakonía (Santa Cruz) y Mediaverkstedet i Bergen (Noruega).

    En el área de investigación, es actualmente Investigadora y Consultora para el área andina en el proyecto Museos y Diversidad Cultural, que llevan adelante la Universidad de Bergen (Noruega), el Museo de Londres (Inglaterra) y el Museo Isiko (Sudáfrica). Fruto de este proyecto, UNESCO publicó en el año 2008 el libro de su autoría Museos en Los Andes: Historias Antiguas, Nuevas Propuestas.


    Verónica Córdoba (1972- ) was born on August 30, 1972 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Before she joined the EICTV, she studied social communication at the Bolivian Catholic University and anthropology at the Universidad Mayor of San Andrés. She also worked as a journalist in cultural and political surroundings of Bolivia such as the weekly newspaper Semanario Aquí, the monthly periodical El Caraspas, the literary magazine La Letra E and others. Besides, she was a member of the team of Archeology and document research of the History Archives of the city of La Paz, and member of the university staff of the Centre for Anthropological Research Tiwanaku.

    Bewteen 1993 and 1995, she studied at the International Film and Television School (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de Los Baños, EICTV) in Habana, Cuba and graduated as a screenwriter. After she finished her studies in Cuba, she worked freelance as a scriptwriter, director, and assistant director in different Bolivian projects. Her medium length film Tierra adentro (1996) won the national prize Premio Nacional Cóndor de Plata to the best narrative feature film of 1996 and the prized awarded by the Provincial Film and Television School (Escuela Provincial de Cine y TV) of Rosario  at the 4th Rosario Latin American Festival of Video (Festival Latinoamericano de Video de de Rosario) in 1997.

    Between 1998 and 2000 she took a Master’s degree program in  screenplay for documentaries and narrative feature films at the University of Bergen (Norway). In the period between 1999 and 2003, she got her Doctorate degree in Film Theory at the same university. Her doctoral thesis “Cine y Revolución en América Latina” (Cinema and Revolution in Latin America) was published in English and constitutes a first attempt to document the history of the New Latin American Cinema Foundation and the EICTV.

    While studying in Norway, she directed and produced the documentary Trono, which won the Distintion of the Latin American Program RAL (Distinción RALPrograma Latinoamericano) at the Latin American Meeting of Television RAL (Encuentro Latinoamericano de Televisión RAL) in Uruguay in 2001; it was also officially selected for the Malaga Documentary Film Festival (Festival de Cine Documental de Málaga) and at the International Festival of Audiovisual Program of France. The Latin American television channel Telesur purchased Trono to broadcast the film. In the same period of time, she was the general producer of the restoration of the silent Bolivian feature film Wara Wara, she also produced the short  film Paraiso and began writing the script of the feature film Di buen día papá.

    In 2003, she returned to Bolivia and founded the enterprise Imagen Propia for audiovisual production. With this enterprise she won the prize Ibermedia for project development and later for the co-production of the feature film Di buen día papa, of which she was screenwriter and executive producer. This feature film was made in co-production with Argentina and Cuba, and was released in 2005.

    Between 2005 and 2007, she was screenwriter and producer of several documentaries, short films and advertising campaigns with Imagen propia Ltd. Some of the most outstanding are the documentaries Inal mamá, Bolivian winner of the Ibero American contest DOCTV IB; and Los bolivianos, winner of the South American contest launched by Televisión de América Latina TAL, which is in the production phase at the present.

    In the field of audiovisual training, she is currently a professor in the area of Films and new Technologies for the bachelor program in films, television and new media of the Department of Media and Information Sciences at the University of Bergen, Norway.

    She is a professor in the areas of FilmTheory and screenplay in the university course “Film direction” at the Bolivian Catholic University. She was also a professor in the Course: “Narrative for New Media, project virtual museums and memoirs”, taught at the Corporation of digital technologies of Quito, Ecuador.

    She taught courses and workshops on Film criticism, script and filmmaking in institutions such as: The school of visual arts, The workshop film-video, The communication commission of the Bolivian Episcopal conference (La Paz), The film school La fábrica (Cochabamba), the higher school of Deaconry Communication (Santa Cruz) and Mediaverkstedet in Bergen (Norway).

    In the research field, she is currently a researcher and consultant for the Andean area in the Project Museums and Cultural diversity, conducted by the University of Bergen (Norway), the Museum of London, (England) and the Museum Isiko (South Africa). As a result of this project, UNESCO will publish in 2008 the book Museums in Los Andes: Ancient stories, New Proposals, written by Verónica Córdova.
