    (España, 1887-1967)



    Nace en España en 1887. Desarrolla una carrera como actor teatral y trabaja en el cine en 1912, a las órdenes de David W. Griffith. Trabaja para las empresas Biograph, Vitagraph y Pathé, haciéndose célebre como héroe de películas cortas y galán latino. En 1920 debuta como director, al sustituir a última hora al responsable de la serie El velo misterioso. El sonido lo margina a papeles secundarios, y entre 1930 y 1935 participa en unas once películas del cine hispano. En 1931 es contratado en México, junto a otros talentos del cine ibérico, para la realización de Santa, primera película con sonido directo del cine mexicano. Con ella, introduce la técnica estadounidense de producción fílmica. Al año siguiente realiza Águilas frente al sol, tras lo cual se reintegra como actor al cine estadounidense. En 1945 regresa a México y actúa en el melodrama Sol y sombra, de Rafael E. Portas. Fallece en EE. UU. en 1967.


    Antonio Moreno (1987) was born in Spain. He developed a career as theater actor and worked in the cinema in 1912 directed by David W. Griffith. He worked for production companies as Biograph, Vitagraph and Pathé, becoming celebrated as hero and Latin lover in short films. In 1920, he debuted as film director, when substituting at the last moment to the director of the series The mysterious veil. The arrival of sound relegated him to supporting roles; from 1930 and 1935, he acted in eleven film of the Hispanic cinema. In 1931, he was hired in Mexico, next to other talents of the Hispanic cinema, for the realization of Santa, first movie with direct sound of the Mexican cinema. With this film was introduced the American technique of film production. The next year, he made Águilas frente al sol, after which he come back to Hollywood as actor. In 1945, he returned to Mexico and acted in the melodrama Sol y sombra by Rafael E. Portas. He dies in the U.S.A. in 1967.
