Nació en Cali, Colombia, en 1975. Estudió Producción y Dirección de Cine en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU) - Tisch School of the Arts, donde también realizó un diplomado en Teoría del Cine. Después de graduarse fue apadrinado por el director de cine francés Raphael Nadjari y junto a él desarrolló diversos guiones en el género de horror y cuatro cortometrajes.

Posteriormente Baiz escribió y dirigió los cortometrajes Billions served, a short statement about war (1997), Mass production (1998), Payaso hp (1999) y La sesión (2001), que participaron en diferentes festivales internacionales. Además, incursionó en la dirección de videos musicales con Yo no quiero (2000), Homenaje (2002) y Sin decir una palabra (2006), que rotaron en el circuito de las cadenas musicales más prestigiosas del mundo. Entre 2003 y 2004 realizó el documental Penumbra, filmado en la costa Oeste de los Estados Unidos, que cuenta la vida de Jim Adams, un condenado a muerte con un talento excepcional como artista y dibujante.

Desde 2001 hasta el 2004 fue director, producto y editor de la empresa de producción Centro Films Ltda., con base en Nueva York, la cual desempeña labores de distribución y producción de contenido hispano (artístico y comercial) en los Estados Unidos, al tiempo que combina sus actividades con la crítica de cine en la revista internacional LOFT.

Trabajó como asistente de producción de los largometrajes Bringing Out the Dead de Martin Scorsese; Cremaster 2 del artista plástico Mathew Barney; Zoolander, y en 2002 fue productor del largometraje The Fittest, de los hermanos Joshua y Jeffrey Crook.

A su regreso a Colombia, Baiz se vincula activamente a la empresa Proyecto Tucán Ltda. junto a Rodrigo Guerrero (su socio en Centro Films Ltda.) y el reconocido productor y director Jaime Osorio Gómez, donde participa en la producción de la película María, llena eres de gracia (2004)y hace las veces de editor asistente del largometraje Sin Amparo, de Jaime Osorio. En ese momento comienza el proceso de producción de su ópera prima Satanás, basada en la novela homónima de Mario Mendoza Zambrano, y en 2006 realiza el mediometraje Hoguera, seleccionado en la Quincena de Realizadores del Festival de Cannes 2007.

Recientemente Baiz fue galardonado por Satanás en el International Emerging Talent Film Festival (IETFF), que se llevó a cabo en la ciudad de Montecarlo, Mónaco, donde la cinta se llevó el premio a la Mejor película y el protagonista del filme Damián Alcazar se obtuvo el premio como Mejor actor. La cara oculta, coproducida por Fox International Pictures, es su segundo largometraje.

Andi Baiz (1975-) was born in Colombia. He took production and film direction classes at New York University (NYU) - Tisch School of the Arts, where he also received a diploma in film theory. After he graduated, he was sponsored by the French movie director Raphael Nadjori, with whom he developed different horror screenplays, and four short films.

Subsequently Baes wrote and directed the short films: Billions served, a short statement about war (1997), Mass Production (1998), Payaso hp (1999) and La Sesión (2001), which participated in different international film festivals. He made incursion in the direction of music videos with Yo no quiero (2000), Homenaje (2002) and Sin decir una palabra (2006), which were broadcasted in the circuit of the most prestigious musical networks of the world. Between 2003 and 2004 he made the documentary Penumbra, filmed in the west coast of the United State, which narrates the life of Jim Adams, a death row inmate who has an exceptional talent as artist and drawer.

From 2001 to 2004 he was director, producer and editor of Centro Film Ltda, a production company based in New York, which carried out distribution and production of Hispanic contents (both artistic and commercial) in th USA. At the same time, he complemented his work as filmmaker with film criticism at the international magazine LOFT.

In the above mentioned period he worked like production assistant in the feature film Bringing out the Dead by Martin Scorsese, Cremaster 2 by the artist Mathew Barney, and Zoolander and in 2002 produced the feature film The Fittes by Joshua and Jeffrey Crook brothers.

After he came back to Colombia, Baiz had an active connection with the company Proyecto Tucan LTDA together with Rodrigo Guerrero (his partner in Centro film LTDA) and the prominent director Jaime Osorio Gomez; there he took part in the production of the feature film Maria llena eres de gracia and also worked as assistant editor of the feature film Sin Amparo by Jaime Osorio. It is in this moment that he began the production process of his first work, Satanas, based in the same title novel by Mario Mendoza Zambrano. In 2006 he made the medium length film Hangers, which was chosen for the Directors Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.

His feature film Satanas was awarded at the International Emerging Talent Film Festival (IETFF) that took place at Montecarlos City, Monaco, where this feature film was awarded as Best Picture and the actor in the title role, Damían Alcazar, won the award for Best Actor.
