    Productor y director de cine colombiano, nacido en Cali, que ha desarrollado gran parte de su carrera en los Estados Unidos, donde es reconocido por sus trabajos como director de videoclips musicales. Su largometraje Paraíso Travel fue ganador de la convocatoria del Fondo para el Desarrollo Cinematográfico 2006.
     
    Empezó su acercamiento al audiovisual a la edad de 8 años experimentando con dos cámaras (una de super 8 mm y otra de 16 mm) que le regaló su abuela materna. Ya en su adolescencia, influenciado por las series norteamericanas que presentaba la televisión nacional, grabó con una pequeña cámara Betamax y la ayuda de sus amigos de colegio su primer acercamiento argumental: una versión criolla de la serie Los Magníficos.
     
    Antes de asumir su carrera de productor y director de cine y televisión, Brand estudió varios semestres de comunicación social, epistemología y publicidad en la Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, viviendo una juventud tranquila y llena de los beneficios que ofrece un trabajo como locutor de la emisora de moda en la ciudad (88.9). Pero el deseo de realizar imágenes lo hace ganar una beca en Music and Video Academic de Miami, donde se graduó con méritos.
     
    Empezó a los 17 años al dirigir un video musical para una banda de rock nacional, y desde ese momento perfeccionó el arte de dirigir videos musicales y comerciales en una joven casa productora nortemericana que posteriormente se convirtió en MTV. Luego fundó su propia compañía, Kree8, desde donde ha realizado alrededor de 200 comerciales y más de 120 videos musicales con artistas como Jessica Simpson, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Ricky Martin, la legendaria Celia Cruz, Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Chayanne, Arjona, Thalia y Paulina Rubio.
     
    Actualmente su empresa está asociada con A Band Apart, firma de Quentin Tarantino. Gracias a su trabajo Brand ha sido galardonado con los premios MTV, Clio, Telly y FIAP, y ha recibido varias nominaciones para los premios Grammy. En 2005 filma su primer largometraje, Unknown (Mentes en blanco, estrenado en Colombia en el 2007), un thriller de suspenso rodado en la ciudad de Los Ángeles y el desierto de California, con una positiva crítica internacional.
     
    A mediados de 2008 Brand dirigirá Un mundo para Julius, basada en la novela homónima de Alfredo Bryce Echenique.


    Simon Brad is a director and producer, born in Cali, Colombia, who has developed an important part of his career in the U.S. A., where he is acknowledged  for its work as musical video director. His feature film Paraiso Travel was the winner of the prize of the call of the Fund for Film Development (Fondo para el Desarrollo cinematográfico) in 2006.

    He began his relationship with the cinema at the age of eight, making tries with two cameras (a super 8 and a 16 mm one) that his maternal grandmother gave to him. Already an adolescent, influenced by the American series shown by the national television of Colombia, he shot with a small camera Betamax and the help of some friends his first narrative approach, a Creole version of  the series Los Magníficos.

    Before beginning his career as producer and director in film and television, Brand studied social communication, epistemology, and publicity at the Javeriana University of Bogota several semesters. Meanwhile, he lived the quiet life full of benefits that came   from his job as announcer at the most fashionable radio station (88.9) of the city. Nonetheless his whish to make pictures led him to get an scholarship from the Music and video Academic of Miami, where he graduated cum laude.

    His career in the audiovisual began at the age of 17 directing a musical video for a local rock band; and from this moment on, he improved the art of filming musical videos and commercials at a young American production company that later would become MTV. Afterward he founded his own production company, Kree8, where he has made nearly 200 hundred commercials and more than 120 musical videos for artists as  Jessica Simpson, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Ricky Martin, the legendary Celia Cruz, Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Chayanne, Arjona, Thalia y Paulina Rubio.

    His company is currently associated with A Band Apart, a Quentin Tarantino owned company. Thanks to his work Brand has been awarded with the awards MTV, Clio, Telly and FIAP, and has received various nominations to the Grammy awards. In  2005 he filmed his first narrative feature film Unknown (Mentes en blanco), released on July 6, 2007 in Colombia, a thriller shot in Los Angeles and the California desert, which had a good international critical reception.

    Halfway through 2008, Brand became involved in the direction of the feature film Un mundo para Julius, based on the novel of the same title by Alfredo Bryce Echenique, with a budget that surpasses the 15 million dollars and Oliver Martínez in the title role.
