    Directora de Cine y TV. Egresada como Comunicadora Social, mención audiovisual de la UCAB. Luego de una vasta trayectoria como asistente de dirección para producciones de cine venezolanas y extranjeras, dirigió diversos documentales institucionales y seriados para TV como Los del Galpón (UNESCO, CVG, VTV), Archivo criminal, Archivos del más allá (RCTV), diversos programas dramáticos unitarios, y cuñas.

    Sus inicios como cortometrajista están ligados a 7x1 cortometrajes, conglomerado de 10 jóvenes cineastas que filmaron cortos en torno a Caracas y la violencia urbana. Dicho proyecto obtuvo el reconocimiento como Mejor Proyecto Iberoamericano en el Festival de Cine de Trieste, Italia.

    Su corto Luna Urbana formó parte de la selección oficial del festival de cortos de Clermont Ferrand, Francia, entre otros. Además, obtuvo el primer premio Jóvenes Cineastas del Consejo Nacional de la Cultura (CONAC). Posteriormente dirigió Ale, Luli, Luis y el brazo, cortometraje con el cual obtuvo el pemio Catalina de Oro al mejor corto del Festival de Cine de Cartagena, Colombia; Premio al mejor corto del Festival de Fundavisual Latina; Mejor corto, dirección, guión, de los Premios Municipales de Cine de Concejo del Municipio Libertador y Premio a la Calidad del CNAC, entre otros.

    Actualmente, se encuentra en el rodaje de su largometraje titulado Cuidado con lo que sueñas.




    Geyka Urdaneta is a Venezuelan Television and film director graduated as a social communicator with an audiovisual mention of the UCAB. After a long career as assistant director in Venezuelan and foreign productions, she directed some institutional documentaries and TV series as Los del Galpón (UNESCO, CVG, VTV), Archivo criminal, Archivos del más allá (RCTV), and individual dramatic shows and slots.

    Her beginning as short film director is linked with 7x1 cortometrajes, a group of ten young filmmakers who had created a group of short films about Caracas and the urban violence; a production that was awarded as the best Latin-American project at the Trieste Film Festival in Italy.

    Her short film Luna Urbana was part of the official selection at Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival in France. It also won the Young Filmmaker prize from the National Culture Council (Consejo Nacional de la Cultura, CONAC). Then she directed Ale, Lili, Luis y el brazo, a short film that won the Golden Catalina award in this category at the Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia, The prize for the Best Short Film at the Fundavisual Latina Film Festival, Best Short, Direction, and Screenplay from the Municipal film prizes of the Council of Libertador Municipality and the Prize to the Quality of the CNAC, among others.

    The filmmaker was involved in the shooting of the feature film Cuidado con lo que sueñas.
