    Nace en el Distrito Federal, en 1969. Estudia Comunicación en Guadalajara, y en 1992 recibe un curso de animación con la animadora chilena Viviane Barry. Pronto se contaría entre los animadores mexicanos que supieron aprovechar el auge producido en este género, luego de que se estrenara con éxito El héroe, de Carlos Carrera.

    Castillo se ha especializado en la técnica del stop-motion. Realiza en 1997, el animado con plastilina Sin sostén, junto con Antonio Urrutia, por el que fue reconocido en Cannes, Guadalajara, Huelva, Seattle y Sao Paulo. Ya en solitario, como director y guionista, le dio forma al famoso Hasta los huesos (2000), que confirmó su prestigio internacional.




    He was born in the Federal District in 1969. He studied Communication in Guadalajara, and in 1992 he took a course on animation with Chilean animation filmmaker Viviane Barry.  Soon, he was among the Mexican animation filmmakers who were able to make the best of the boom produced in this genre, after the successful premiere of El héroe, by Carlos Carrera.

    Castillo has become a specialist in the stop-motion technique. In 1997 he made the animation film Sin sostén where he used plasticine, together with Antonio Urrutia, and has received recognition at Cannes, Guadalajara, Huelva, Seattle and Sao Paulo. Working on his own, as director and script writer, he gave shape to the famous Hasta los huesos (2000), which confirmed his international prestige.
