    (Argentina, 1971)



    Director y guionista. Cursa estudios de dirección cinematográfica en el Centro de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica de Buenos Aires. Realizó documentales para Edición Plus, programa finalista en la categoría de Mejor Documental Extranjero de los Premios Emmy de 1995.

    En 1996 es elegido por Shoah Visual History Foundation (Fundación de Historia Visual del Holocausto), fundada por Steven Spielberg, para documentar testimonios de los sobrevivientes del Holocausto en la Argentina. En ese mismo año escribe y dirige el cortometraje Ojos de fuego, ganador del Concurso de Cortometrajes del Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía, que fue estrenado en los cines como parte de Historias breves, largometraje que contribuye al nacimiento de una nueva generación de cineastas. Ojos de fuego representó a la Argentina en numerosos festivales internacionales.

    En 1997 gana la Beca Fulbright del Fondo Nacional de las Artes y asiste al Programa de Dirección en el American Film Institute (AFI) en Los Ángeles, donde es galardonado con los Premios Henry Hathaway y Bridges/Larson por su desempeño. Como parte del programa dirige Arnold Murphy y escribe y dirige El túnel de la lluvia, The Secret Sea (El mar secreto) y Un pedazo de tierra, primera tesis en la historia del AFI filmada en español. Egresa del AFI con una maestría en Bellas Artes, especializada en dirección cinematográfica. Escribe la adaptación al cine de la novela Wild Life, del premio Pullitzer Richard Ford.

    Luego regresó a Argentina para filmar durante 2002 Vida en Falcon, un documental sobre dos hombres que viven dentro de sus coches Falcon modelo 68, y realizar su ópera prima, Cama adentro, protagonizada por Norma Aleandro, ganadora del Premio Especial del Jurado en el Festival de Cine de Sundance (2005), entre otros reconocimientos. Fue seleccionada también para la sección Zabaltegui en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Donostia-San Sebastián.

    Actualmente se encuentra desarrollando su próximo largometraje, La seguridad de los perros.



    Jorge Gaggero (1971-) is a film director and screenwriter. He studied filmmaking at the Center for Experimental Film (Centro de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica) of Buenos Aires. He made documentaries for Edición Plus, a finalist program in the category of Best Foreign Documentary in the Emmy Awards from 1995.

    In 1996, he was elected by the Shoah Visual History Foundation, created by Steven Spielberg to document testimonies of survivors of the Holocaust in Argentina. In the same year he wrote and directed the short film Ojos de fuego, winner of the Short Film Competition organized by the National Film Institute (Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía), which was released in theaters as a part of Historias breves, a feature that contributes to the birth of a new generation of filmmakers. Ojos de fuego represented Argentina at international festivals.

    In 1997, he won a Fulbright Scholarship from the National Endowment for the Arts and attended the Management Program at the American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles, where he was awarded the Prizes Henry Hathaway and Bridges/Larson for his performance. As a part of the program, he directed Arnold Murphy and he wrote and directed El túnel de la lluvia, The Secret Sea (El mar secreto) and Un pedazo de tierra, the first thesis in the history of AFI that was filmed in Spanish. He graduated from American Film Institute (AFI) with a Master of Fine Arts, specializing in film direction. He wrote a film adaptation of the novel Wild Life, created by the Pulitzer Prize Richard Ford.

    He returned to Argentina to film in 2002 Vida en Falcon, a documentary about two men living in their Falcon cars model 68, and he made his debut in fill-length feature films with Cama adentro, starring Norma Aleandro. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival (2005), among other accolades. It was also selected for the section Zabaltegui at the Donostia-San Sebastian International Film Festival.

    He was currently developing his next feature film La seguridad de los perros.
