Actor y director de cine y televisión, Daniel Filho es el fundador y el director artístico de Globo Filmes, rama cinematográfica de la célebre televisora especializada en la producción de telenovelas. En el cine comenzó como actor en 1955 (O fuzileiro do amor), después de pasar por la compañía teatral de revistas de Walter Pinto. Todavía como actor, participó en Colegio de brotos (1956), Eu sou o tal (1960), Este Rio que eu amo (1961), y filmes célebres del Cinema Novo como Os Cafajestes (1962) de Ruy Guerra, y Boca de ouro (1962) de Nelson Pereira Dos Santos.
En 1964 pasó a dirigir televisión, y dos años después entró en Rede Globo, donde asesoró, dirigió o interpretó cerca de cincuenta telenovelas o miniseries. Alternó las funciones de director (Lo imposible sucede, 1968; La cama al alcance de todos, 1969) y actor (Los herederos, 1970; Lluvias de verano, 1977, de Carlos Diegues; El beso de asfalto, de Bruno Barreto; Bar esperanza, 1983, de Hugo Carvana; Romance de la empleada, 1987, de Bruno Barreto, entre muchos otros).
Como director artístico de Globo Filmes participó en la producción de largometrajes como Orfeo (1998), de Carlos Diegues; mientras que en 2001 produjo y dirigió A partilha (2001), con un elenco de brillantes actrices, y también estaba detrás de los proyectos más exitosos de los años 2004 y 2005: Cazuza, el tiempo no para, Dois filhos de Francisco, y Casa de arena, entre otros.
En 2006 Daniel Filho está en plena actividad: dirigió Se eu fosse você; iniciará la adaptación para el cine de la novela El primo Basilio, y produjo El amor mayor del mundo, de Carlos Diegues, y Zuzu Angel, de Sergio Rezende.
Daniel Filho is a film and televisual actor and director, founder and Art director of the production company Globo Filmes, the film branch of the famous televison network, devoted to the production of soap operas. In 1964 he began to direct on television, and after two years, he entered televison company Rede Globo, where he was actor, assistant and director in around fifty serials and soap operas. He alternated his responsabilities as director (O impossível acontece, 1968; A cama ao alcance de todos 1969) and actor (Os herdeiros, 1970; Chuvas de Verão, 1977 by Carlos Diegues; O Beijo no Asfalto by Bruno Barreto; Bar esperanza, 1983 by Hugo Carvana; Romance da empregada, 1987 by Bruno Barreto, among others).
As Artistic director of Globo Filmes, he took part in the production of feature films as Carlos Diegues´s Orfeo (1998), while in 2001 produced and directed A partilha (2001), with a cast of excellent actresses. He was also behind more successful projects of the years 2004 and 2005: Cazuza, el tiempo no para, Dois filhos de Francisco, and Romance da empregada, among others.
In 2006, Daniel Filho, in the peak of his career, directed Se eu fosse você, and began the film adaptation of the novel, O Primo Basílio (1878) and also produced O maior amor do mundo by Carlos Diegues, and Zuzu Angel by Sergio Rezende.
