  • Peleas de tigres: una petición de lluvia nahua


    La fiesta de la Santa Cruz tiene como fundamento esencial la petición de lluvia para el próximo ciclo de siembra. Este rito propiciatorio tiene elementos de origen prehispánico. Este filme, registra la danza que representa a los tlacoleros y a los tigres. Los nahuas imitan al tigre para invocar al trueno y al relámpago y mientras más peleas se lleven a cabo será mayor la cantidad de lluvia.

    The essential foundation of the feast of Santa Cruz is the request of rain for the forthcoming ext sowing season. This rite has elements of pre-Hispanic origin. The film witnesses the dance that represents the “tlacoleros” and the tigers. The Nahua imitate the tiger to invoke the thunder and the lightning; the more fights take place the greater the amount of rain will be.
