Nacida en Córdoba Capital, pero actualmente radicada en Buenos Aires, Paolinelli es Técnica Productora en Medios Audiovisuales, egresada del Departamento de Cine y TV de la UNC. Se fue de Córdoba con el título, pero atrás dejaba unos cuantos trabajos que la habían posicionado como una joven promesa del circuito audiovisual cordobés. En 1997, Paolinelli ganó el Concurso de Cortometrajes Historias breves III, organizado por el Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA), y la promesa se trasladó al ámbito nacional. El mismo año, su mediometraje ¡Motín! fue seleccionado para proyectarse en festivales internacionales. No tantos como en los que participó su película más conocida hasta el momento, La botella (1999), cortometraje de ficción filmado en 35mm que obtuvo premios y subsidios e innumerables críticas positivas en todo el país y fuera de él.
Sobre la película Por sus propios ojos (2007), presentada en la sección Cine en Construcción del XXII Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara, su directora ha expresado que "... trata sobre una estudiante de cine que tiene que terminar su tesis universitaria y elige abordar a las mujeres de los presos. En el ’96 yo misma hice un documental sobre esta problemática. Pero en este proyecto se me ocurrió abordarla desde la ficción, lo que me da la posibilidad de reconstruir parte del procedimiento documental que suele quedar disimulado: el rechazo de los entrevistados, el temor del realizador a entrar a un mundo desconocido, ciertas torpezas en la comunicación, etcétera. Pero no, no puedo decir que sea autobiográfica”.
Born in Córdoba but currently based in Buenos Aires, Paolinelli is a Technical Producer in Audiovisual Media graduated in the Film and TV Department of the UNC. She left Cordoba with the certificate, but left behind a few works that had positioned her as a young promise for the audiovisual circuit in Cordoba. In 1997, Paolinelli won the Short Film Competition Historias breves III, organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), and then she moved to the national level. The same year, her middle-lenght film ¡Motín! was selected to be shown at international festivals. Her best-known film to date, La Botella (1999), is a short fiction film shot in 35mm that obtained several awards and grants, and also positive reviews throughout the country and abroad.
On the film Por sus propios ojos, presented in the section Cinema in Progress of the XXII International Film Festival of Guadalajara, the director has stated that "... is about a film student who has to finish her university thesis and chooses to approach the male prisoners’ wives. In 1996 I made a documentary on this issue. But in this project I decided to deal with it from fiction, which gives me the chance to rebuild a part of the documentary procedure that usually remains hidden: the rejection of the interviewees, the fear of the filmmaker to enter into an unknown world, certain awkwardness in communication, and so on. But no, I cannot say it's autobiographical."
