The true story of a man who helped usher Peru into the modern age is brought to the screen in this biographical drama. Near the dawn of the 20th Century, Enrique Aet was an ambitious young engineer who was helping to build roads and bridges for the Peruvian government while engaged to marry Doris, the daughter of a successful newspaper published. Aet was sent to the wilds of the Amazon for a building project, where he had a brief fling with a beautiful local woman which left her with a child. After he was injured Aet returned to Lima, where he first encountered Jose, who became a bitter rival among his fellow engineers.
