    El 12 de enero del 2010 un terremoto con magnitud 7,2 y epicentro a 15 km de Puerto Príncipe, sacudió Haití. Las cifras oficiales hablaron de 316.000 personas muertas, 350.000 heridas, y más de 1,5 millones de personas que quedaron sin hogar. Una de las mayores tragedias humanitarias de la historia se ensañaba así, con el país más pobre de América. Evidentemente, la ayuda internacional en forma de dinero, materiales de consumo no perecederos, voluntarios, bomberos, perros de rastreo, etc. no se hizo esperar. Todos parecían apoyar la reconstrucción de un país asolado. Ahora, la mirada siempre crítica de Raoul Peck, vuelve con este documental sobre la tragedia indagando en la realidad de esa ayuda y sus intenciones para dejar en el aire una pregunta: ¿Merece la pena el precio a pagar por las intervenciones extranjeras o es mejor intentar levantarse por los propios medios?

    On January 12th, 2010 an earthquake with a 7.2 magnitude and the epicenter located 15 kilometers away from Port-au-Prince hit Haiti. According to official sources, 316,000 people died, 350,000 were injured and more than 1.5 million were left homeless. One of the biggest tragedies in human history showed no mercy to the poorest country in America. The international community didn’t wait to send help: money, non-perishable goods, volunteers, firefighters, etc. Everyone seemed to support the reconstruction of a devastated country. The always critic view of Raoul Peck investigates in this film the reality behind this help and its true intentions, asking one question: is it worth paying the price of receiving foreign aid, or is it better for the country to recover on its own?
