  • Esteban Schroeder
    (Uruguay, 1957)



    Realizador y productor cinematográfico. En 1981 creó el Centro de Medios Audiovisuales (CEMA) y desde allí fue protagonista del surgimiento de la expresión audiovisual uruguaya, participando en más de 30 producciones, alternando los roles de fotógrafo, guionista, productor y realizador. En 1988 realizó el documental Chile: Obra Incompleta, que a partir del plebiscito de ese año se propone crear un retrato de Chile.

    En 1991 realizó para Channel Four de Inglaterra el documental La Esperanza Incierta, que aborda la situación de las democracias recuperadas del Cono Sur americano, en el inicio de la década del 90.

    En el año 2000 presentó su telefilm El viñedo, primera película uruguaya presentada por la distribuidora Buena Vista Internacional. Desde el año 2002 reside en Chile, donde ha dirigido un telefilm para la productora Nueva Imagen (Ahora nos toca, Canal 13-2004). Desde fines de 2004 es director de la Escuela de Cine de la Universidad ARCIS (Chile).

    Esteban Schroeder será responsable de la planificación estratégica y conducción de Esteban Schroeder & Asoc., participando en las diferentes etapas de los proyectos audiovisuales que formen parte de la cartera de la firma.


    Esteban Schroeder (1957-) is an Uruguayan director and producer. In 1981, he created the Audiovisual Media Center (CEMA) and from this moment on, he took part at the emerging Uruguayan audiovisual, working in more than 30 productions as photographer, screenwriter, producer and director. In 1988, he made the documentary Chile: Obra Incompleta, which starting from the plebiscite of this year tries to offer a portrait of Chile.

    In 1991 he made for the British Channel Four the documentary La Esperanza Incierta, which tackles with the situation of the recovered democracy in the South American countries at the beginning of the 1990s decade.

    In 2000, was released his film El viñedo, the first Uruguayan film showed by the production company Buena Vista Internacional. Since 2002, he lives in Chile, where he directed the TV film Ahora nos toca for the production company Nueva Imagen (Canal 13, 2004). Since the ends of 2004, he is director of the Film School at the ARCIS University (Chile).

    He was involded in the creation of his own production company Esteban Schroeder & Asoc., taking part in different stages of its audiovissual projects.
