Pierre SORLIN is  Professor of Sociology of Film in the Cinema and Audio-Visual Department at the University of La Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III). He is, with the pioneer Marc Ferro, the leading authority on relationship between Film and History, and now the President of the International Association for Audio-Visual Media in Historical Research and Education (IAMHIST). He is co-editor of the journal Hors Cadre and author of several books on Contemporary History and Film. His publications include La société française contemporaine, La société soviétique, L'antisémitisme allemand, Sociologie du cinéma (the last three are translated to Spanish), The Film in History. Restaging the Past and, among others books. He has made seven documentaries on Contemporary History
