La ganadora de la Palma de Oro Yo, Daniel Blake se postula como favorita para la edición 2016 de los Premios del Cine Independiente Británico (BIFA, por sus siglas en inglés) con siete nominaciones. La película está nominada en las principales categorías, las de mejor película independiente británica, mejor dirección y mejor guión. Sus actores protagonistas, Hayley Squires y Dave Johns, están nominados en dos categorías: mejor actor y mejor actriz, y mejor intérprete debutante (en esta última compiten entre sí).

American Honey, de Andrea Arnold, Adult Life Skills, de Rachel Tunnard, Notes on Blindness, de Peter Middleton y James Spinney, y Under the Shadow, de Babak Anvari, tienen seis nominaciones cada una.

Los ganadores serán desvelados en la ceremonia de los BIFA, que se celebra el 4 de diciembre.
