  • CaribbeanTales produce pilotos de series de televisión junto a compañías líderes del sector

    Tres de las más importantes productoras de cine caribeño están desarrollando pilotos de televisión para proyectos de series originales, a través de un financiamiento de Flow y el conglomerado mediático CaribbeanTales.

    Con un financiamiento de $ 40 000 por proyecto, la primera producción en comenzar será Battledream Chronicle, un drama de ciencia ficción animado, creado por Alain Bidard, que estará basado en su innovadora y premiada película del mismo título. El otro piloto a producirse será Heat, un drama criminal a filmarse en Barbados, que estará dirigido por el icónico cineasta Menelik Shabazz (Burning an Illusion, The Story of Lover’s Rock and more). El tercer piloto será Caribbean Girl NYC, una comedia de situación con un elenco femenino, realizada por la cineasta y  productora guadalupense Mariette Monpierre, cuyo galardonado filme Elza ganó, entre otros, el prestigioso premio NYT.

    El apoyo para estos proyectos de pilotos son parte del programa CaribbeanTales Incubator (CTI) y es una iniciativa anual de desarrollo y realización para productores del Caribe y su diáspora, destinada a crear contenidos audiovisuales regionales que sean sólidos, atractivos y sostenibles para el mercado global.

    Los pilotos tendrán su premiere en la 12 edición anual del Festival Internacional de Cine CaribbeanTales (CTFF), del cual Flow es también su principal patrocinador. El Festival está dedicado a promover el talento de cineastas emergentes y reconocidos de raíces caribeñas, y tendrá lugar en Toronto, Canadá en septiembre.

    Un proyecto adicional es la financiación de una serie documental de siete capítulos, que se encuentra actualmente en postproducción, la cual documenta la experiencia de los 10 equipos de los cineastas que compitieron por este prestigioso premio, y que será exhibida en Flow a finales de este año.

    El programa CaribbeanTales Incubator(CTI) tiene actualmente abierta su convocatoria para su programa del 2017 online.

February 24, 2017: Three of the Caribbean’s leading film producers will now develop pilots for their original TV series projects, via funding from Flow and CaribbeanTales Media Group.

    Support for these pilots is part of CaribbeanTales Incubator Program (CTI), a year-round development and production hub for Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora Producers to create of strong, compelling and sustainable regional content for the global market.

    “We recognise the significant hurdles that Caribbean Producers face in financing and producing their content, and getting it out to audiences,” said John Reid, CEO of Cable and Wireless, operator of Flow and lead sponsor of CTI. “We are honoured to help support this programme that is enabling the production and monetisation of this exciting emerging cultural industry.”

    The pilots will premier at the twelfth annual CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF), of which Flow is also the lead sponsor. The festival celebrates the talents of established and emerging filmmakers of Caribbean heritage, and will be held in Toronto, Canada in September.

    As an added bonus, an eight-part documentary series has been filmed and is currently in post-production. The series follows the ten teams of filmmakers who competed for this prestigious award, and will be shown on Flow1 later this year.
